Groovosophers
An energetic jazz/fusion band from Krakow, Poland
The Story
Groovosophers formed in Krakow in March 2023, continuing the tradition of the Goddard Quartet/Quintet — a project founded in 1997 at the legendary jazz workshops in Chodzież. Over the years, the musicians crossed paths in various lineups and genres. In 2023, they decided to fulfill a long-held dream: join forces, write original material, and bring their shared vision of groove-driven modern jazz to the stage.
The result is music that lives at the intersection of jazz, fusion, blues, and ethnic influences — rooted in improvisation, powered by groove, and shaped by decades of individual experience.
Debut Album
In November 2024, Groovosophers recorded their self-titled debut album, released on March 22, 2025 by 4Groove Records. The album features eight original compositions alongside a surprising drum-and-bass arrangement of John Scofield's "I'll Take Les."
The recording features two distinguished guests: trumpeter Satish Robertson (USA) — known for his work with the James Carter Quintet, with whom he embarked on a European tour in 2025 — and percussionist Patryk Zakrzewski, acclaimed for his collaborations with Urszula Dudziak and Mika Urbaniak.

On the Road
Since their formation, Groovosophers have built a reputation as a powerful live act. Key moments include:
- April 2024 — Concert at the Improvisation Jazz Club with a guest appearance by jazz legend Leszek Żądło
- September 2024 — Headline performance at the 7th Hammond Festival, Hammond Museum, Kielce
- July 2025 — 11th Galician Jazz Meetings in Muszyna (alongside Myrczek & Schmidt Quintet ft. K. Herdzin)
In the summer of 2025, the band embarked on an intensive international tour with Satish Robertson and Patryk Zakrzewski. In just 11 days, they played 10 concerts in 7 countries, appearing at four prestigious festivals:
- 30th Summer Jazz Festival in Krakow
- 15th Free Form Music Festival on the island of Murter, Croatia
- 25th Zelenkovac Jazz Festival, Bosnia and Herzegovina
- JazzFest SK in Trenčín, Slovakia — sharing the stage with Irek Głyk Trio ft. Kinga Głyk and Joaquin Sosa
The tour also took them through clubs in Krakow, Sosnowiec, Brno, Vienna, Budapest, and the legendary Hogo Fogo club in Banská Bystrica.
In November 2025, a sold-out mini tour of Poland with Satish Robertson followed, including performances at the 7th Sącz Jazz Festival in Stary Sącz (alongside Anna Maria Jopek and Piotr Wojtasik Quintet), Zajezdnia Kultury in Pleszew, the Globus Music Club, and Harris Piano Jazz Bar in Krakow.
Live at Zajezdnia Kultury
The energy of that November 2025 run was captured on tape. Live at Zajezdnia Kultury — a double live album with Satish Robertson — was recorded and co-produced by Zajezdnia Kultury in Pleszew. Released on streaming services on July 1, 2026, and as a double vinyl album on July 15.
